La Ferme de Jean

Our dear “Jeans,” Jean-Marie, our grandfather, and Jean-Baptiste, our great-grandfather, ran this modest farm and lived off the land.

The farm hasn’t been operational for a long time, but the memories associated with it make it precious and dear to our hearts.

We love staying there and have decided to give it a new lease on life: as a holiday home, which we offer for rent during the summer.

Formerly

The hamlet had four farms, and this one, our grandparents’ farm, was one of the largest, with its ten cows, two draft horses, ten pigs, and ten hectares of land.

Noise, movement, comings and goings, farmers calling to one another, children shouting, laughter echoing.

A vibrant life. Every day, herds of cows crossed the farmyard to return to their respective barns; the pigs grunted in their pens; the farmers harnessed their horses to go and work their fields. The women joined them, a handkerchief tied on their heads as a hat and a basket of snacks on their arms, while the children played hide-and-seek behind the haystacks. Sharing, solidarity, and celebration.

Everything was experienced together.

Then, insidiously, silence stifled the life of the hamlet. Many years later, we decided to “revive” the farmhouse by transforming it into a charming holiday home, a place where people love to relax.

We named it “Jean’s Farm,” in memory and honor of our dear “Jeans.”
